Spontaneous Moonshell Search

A very spontaneous call went out "who wants to go look for moonshells near Miller Creek". Of course most of those asked said yes .... off we went racing both the low tides and the impending southeaster.

Quite successful ... weathervane scallops, moonshells, whelks, assorted driftwood pieces and a great basket find complete with baby gooseneck barnacles.

Who knows what or where is next ....

First Day of Spring ... Hiking in the "Narrows"

Up early for us, we were on the 7:30 ferry, armed with a google map and our intuition, we headed down towards South Bay, passed the turnoff to Cumshewa., then after a short discussion, we decided to cross over the Deena [following the signs "to the barge"] and finally we could see the "narrows" ... then on a bit to check it out then back to the Barge loading parking area and onto the beach.

New territory for us ...

watching the tide we headed to the west enjoying the birds and tidal life for an hour or so.

Later with the tide rising and the ferry calling us we headed back through the bush and onto the road to get us back to the car.

We have plans to go back ....

Hikers to Hawaii

A couple of the Over the Hill Hikers headed to Hawaii for some hiking and exploring ... beaches, woodlands, geocaching, and shopping, with lots of eating too, all over Kauai ... home just before the tsumani.
